As a trainee, you will be paid under either a Trade Apprentice Award or the National Training Wage. Both outline the minimum legal requirements, the terms and conditions of your employment and other entitlements such as sick pay, holiday pay, meal breaks, work cover, and superannuation, as well as training, assessment and supervision. In most cases, the State Government will pay the bulk of your training during your Apprenticeship so long as you’re a new employee to the business.
How much you earn depends on the particular sector of the creative industry you are in, the job you are doing and which industrial arrangement you come under. These may be:
• |
An Industry Award |
• |
An Individual Transitional Employment Agreement (ITEA) |
• |
A Certified Agreement |
• |
A State or Territory approved contract of employment |
• |
Keep a record of your achievements both at work and in training |
Throughout your working career it is important to ensure that you are aware of, and receive, all that you are entitled to in the workplace.
